Emine Erdoğan: "Turkey's approach to Africa has always been based on friendship"

Speaking at a meeting held at Gazi University on the occasion of Africa Day on May 25, the anniversary of the establishment of the African Union, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan said, "The Turkish nation's interest in Africa is based on heart ties, not interests."

Ambassadors of African countries and their spouses were also present at the program, which was attended by Hadja Djene Kaba Conde, wife of Alpha Conde, President of the Republic of Guinea, the Chairperson-in-Office of the African Union, as the guest of honor.

Starting her speech at the program by congratulating the participants on Africa Day, Emine Erdoğan said that Turkey's approach to Africa has always been based on friendship and that Turkey has always supported the rebirth of Africa from its ashes.

Emine Erdoğan stated that the Turkish nation's interest in Africa is based on ties of the heart, not interests, and said: "Today, as in the past, we are in the desire to build, revitalize and share."

AFRICAN HANDICRAFTS MARKET AND CULTURE HOUSE

Noting that the African Handicrafts Market and Culture House, which was established in Ankara with the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a beautiful fruit of Turkey-Africa relations and a sign of African friendship, supports the empowerment of African women, Emine Erdoğan said that the Africa House has a strong potential in terms of cultural relations and that they wish to use it in the most effective way.

At the end of the program, Gazi University Mediterranean Basin and African Civilizations Research Center GAKAF presented awards to Atatürk Culture, Language and History Supreme Council, TIKA, Turkish Airlines, Turkish Red Crescent, Religious Foundation and TRT. In the program held at Gazi University, a gastronomy event with food stands specific to African countries and a music concert were also held.

Prior to the program, Emine Erdoğan, together with Hadja Djene Kaba Conde, wife of President Conde of Guinea, and the wives of the ambassadors of African countries, visited the African Handicrafts Market and Culture House in Hamamönü and received information about the activities carried out there.
