African students visit African Culture House in Ankara

A cultural trip was organized for African students who continue their education at different universities in Ankara.

Students from Benin and Togo, as well as Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Niger and Burkina Faso participated in the trip organized by the Honorary Consulates of Benin in Istanbul and Ankara and hosted by the African Culture House.

The program aimed to further strengthen the communication and cooperation between African students through their common cultural values.

The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Benin in Ankara, Süreyya Üzmez, stated that African students studying in Turkey play an important role in the cultural and economic relations between Africa and Turkey and that they aim to increase the motivation of young people and develop their potential with the activities organized.

Mr. Hasan Engin Tuncer, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Benin in Istanbul, said that African youth who receive a good education in Turkey are an important asset for both their own countries and Turkey, and that cultural activities contribute to the development of communication and reasoning skills of young people and that African Culture House visits will play an important role in this process.

Zeliha Sağlam, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the African House of Culture, stated that the house is a solidarity and interaction center that aims to make Africa's intangible cultural heritage visible, to support women's labor in particular and transform it into economic value, and to establish lasting ties between societies through cultural diplomacy.

The African Culture House was inaugurated on May 25, 2016, Africa Day, under the leadership of Emine Erdoğan, wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Bringing Africa's rich cultural heritage together with young generations, the African Culture House also brings together the handicrafts made by women in African countries.

Supporting the handcrafted products of women producers from different countries of Africa with a fair approach, the building also offers a living cultural experience to its visitors with exhibitions, workshops and cultural programs.
