Emine Erdoğan Inaugurates Women's Training Center in Madagascar

Accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his visit to Africa, First Lady Emine Erdoğan inaugurated the Women's Training Center in Madagascar, which was commissioned and equipped by TIKA.

The training aids, which aim to make a permanent investment in the lives of African women, consist of various fields. Nearly 100 women are receiving training in the training center consisting of embroidery, sewing, IT, gardening and cookery departments.

"TURKEY IS THE HOMELAND OF BROTHERHOOD FOR AFRICA"

In her speech at the opening ceremony, Emine Erdoğan said, "No matter how distant our countries are, our hearts are one and together. Turkey is the homeland of brotherhood for Africa. Supporting Africa's development efforts is a responsibility of brotherhood for us."

Emine Erdoğan said that the handicrafts produced by the women here can be sold at the African Handicrafts Market and Culture House in Ankara on a non-profit basis and the proceeds will go back to the African women.

The First Lady of Madagascar also attended the opening ceremony. The program was also attended by Madagascar's Minister of Health, Minister of Vocational Education and the spouses of the ministers from the Turkish delegation, TIKA officials and related officials.

Emine Erdoğan also visited Lemur Park, the natural habitat of lemurs, which are known to live only in Madagascar. She received information about aloe vera and baobab trees unique to the region. She planted a baobab tree in the park to commemorate her visit.
