Emine Erdoğan met with Nguema, wife of the Gabonese President in New York

Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Chairperson of the United Nations (UN) Zero Waste High Level Personalities Advisory Board, met with Zita Oligui Nguema, the wife of Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, at the Turkevi.

During the meeting, Nguema said that they would like to be inspired by the "Zero Waste" project and cooperate with Turkey on this issue.

Upon Nguema's request, Emine Erdoğan stated that they could provide training on technical issues through the Zero Waste Foundation.

Emine Erdoğan also stated that vocational training courses on design could be organized under the coordination of Africa House to develop African handicraft products.

Pointing to the drug problem in his country, Nguema expressed their desire to receive support from Turkey in this field.

Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Foundation, and Zeliha Sağlam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Culture House, were also present at the meeting.

In her post about the meeting on her NSosyal account, Emine Erdoğan used the following expressions: "We met with Mrs. Zita Oligui Nguema, the esteemed wife of the President of Gabon, at the Turkevi. During our meeting, we had a fruitful discussion on the common issues of humanity, especially environmental problems and the empowerment of African women. I was pleased to learn that Mrs. Oligui Nguema closely follows our Zero Waste project and is determined to spread these practices in her country. As Turkey, we are always ready to share our knowledge and experience for a sustainable future. I wish that the cooperation between our countries will be instrumental in leaving a more livable world for future generations."
