Handicraft and Design Workshops
We transform the rich cultural heritage of the African continent into a living, producing and sharing space of experience. With our workshops, you can not only learn a technique but also establish a direct contact with culture, history and memory.
As Africa Culture House, we transform Africa's rich cultural heritage into a living, producing and sharing experience through handicraft and design workshops. We design our workshops as meeting points where direct contact with culture, history and memory is established as well as technical learning spaces.
From hair braiding to storytelling, from painting workshops to candle and soap making, from traditional production practices to sensory experiences, our workshops make visible how African culture is intertwined with daily life, rituals and narratives. The knowledge, craftsmanship and narratives passed down from generation to generation are re-experienced and interpreted together with the participants.
The workshops we organize at the African Culture House are spaces of production and sharing where participants are actively involved in the process. Centering on cultural diversity, women's labor and oral and written transmission traditions, these workshops encourage learning, experimenting and producing together.
This approach is a natural reflection of the vision of the African House of Culture, which treats culture as an exhibited, living and transforming value. Our workshops strengthen the connection to cultural heritage and create a lasting space for interaction between different disciplines and communities.
